Advantages of VistaScan

VistaScan Image Plates: allowing you to see more thanks to their larger imaging surface

Benefit from the largest possible field of view

The area within a sensor enclosure that is actually capable of detecting X-ray beams is often far smaller than the external size of the enclosure would suggest. This means that a significant portion of the housing does not contribute to the imaging process, which limits efficiency and restricts the field of view. By contrast, the entire surface of a VistaScan Image Plate is able to record X-rays. Thanks to this ability to image across the full surface, it is possible to generate much larger X-ray images and to make do with fewer images overall.

Largest possible image area: VistaScan Image Plates vs. conventional sensors

*S1 sensors and S2 image plates are used most frequently. Comparison of the active area of a VistaScan size 2 image plate (L: 40 mm x W: 30 mm) and a size 1 sensor (housing dimensions L: 39 mm x W: 27.4 mm)

Your benefits

✔ Largest possible field of view
✔ Simpler representation of the target region
✔ Easier positioning in the mouth of the patient, as the edges of the image plate are also capable of recording X-rays
✔ Fewer images required (e.g. only 2 bite wing exposures instead of 4)
✔ Less need for repeat images
