Prophylaxis products can reduce suction power
Consistently high suction power is essential for reducing infectious aerosols and is therefore the basis for infection protection in dental practices. However, suction power is often insufficient, particularly in units where a large number of prophylaxis treatments are carried out.
In these cases, low suction power is caused by prophylaxis products that have been deposited in the suction system. Just like limescale in pipes, these can only be removed with an acidic cleaner. The increasing number of prophylaxis treatments therefore necessitates a change in practice. Simply running a disinfectant solution through the system once a day is no longer sufficient. An additional special detergent is required to combat the build-up of prophylaxis product residues. We recommend MD 555 cleaner from Dürr Dental. This product effectively removes prophylaxis powder and pearl products from the system, significantly improving suction power. This requires regular use, at least twice a week.
To make it as easy as possible for users to integrate cleaning with MD 555 cleaner in addition to daily disinfection with Orotol plus in everyday practice, we have designed the application recommendations to be flexible. We know that time is tight and that an efficient process is important in everyday practice. With MD 555 cleaner, practices have a choice. If you take a lunch break, you can use the special detergent twice a week during your break. Practices without a lunch break can apply MD 555 cleaner daily before treatment begins, reducing exposure time to five to fifteen minutes. An application that is simple yet effective. Low suction power due to deposits from prophylaxis products is thus a thing of the past.
