A dental practice without dental suction systems is unimaginable. As a pioneer in this area, Dürr Dental AG began with the distribution of dental suction systems more than 50 years ago. Back then, spray mist suction systems addressed two fundamental problems: the exposure of dental teams and patients to pathogens and the until then inconvenient working posture of dentists. Hardly any other innovation has made greater progress in reducing the high number of back complaints amongst dentists. At last, dentists were able to work on supine patients from a sitting position.

Beating 3,400 other entries, the renowned German Design Award was awarded to Dürr Dental AG from Bietigheim-Bissingen in recognition of its » suction system Tyscor VS 2. By awarding a "Special Mention", the German Design Council seeks to highlight particularly successful aspects of a design or entire solutions. In comparison with previous systems, the use of more robust and powerful radial technology increases failure safety and saves up to 50% in energy. This represents an economical solution for our environmentally aware times, and one that has been endorsed by the Stuttgart Fraunhofer Institute.

The German Design Award is awarded by the German Design Council. Founded in 1953 by the German Parliament, the not-for-profit body seeks to promote design so as to improve market value. This established the German Design Council as one of the world leading authorities for communication and market launches in the design sector.

"Our high-grade products and system solutions enjoy universal recognition and popularity amongst dental experts. The performance of our employees – including numerous engineers and technicians – in the medical technology sector is outstanding. This applies in particular also to our clear and strong design competence”, explains CEO Martin Dürrstein.
