The objective of the new build project covering over 3,000 square metres was to ensure that the company is ideally positioned for the future. This required space for electronic manufacturing – the company assembles all the PCBs used in the units itself –, 3D VistaVox installation, the purchasing department and a staff restaurant for the 140 employees who currently work at the Gechingen site in the Black Forest. Dealers and representatives from the specialist press were among those who attended the grand opening. The ceremonial cutting of the ribbon was carried out by brothers Martin Dürrstein, Chairman of the Executive Board of DÜRR DENTAL SE and Peter Dürrstein, Managing Director of Dürr Optronik GmbH & Co. KG, as well as Christian Schorndorfer, Managing Director of Dürr Dental Global, and Alexander Hack, Head of the Diagnostic Systems division. Following a small party featuring specialities from the Black Forest, the host invited the guests on a tour of the production department following the theme of “Pioneering imaging – made in Germany”.

This gave the attendees the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the entire digital imaging range, comprising image plate and scanner technology, high-resolution intraoral cameras as well as 2D and 3D X-ray units. The speakers then presented a host of interesting and new information about Dürr Optronik, and rounded the tour off with a Q&A session and expert panel. A formal highlight of the afternoon was the presentation of a VistaVox 3D X-ray unit to dentist Dr Friedrich Müller from Wiesbaden. Naturally, he only received a symbolic miniature version at the event – but his very own personalised VistaVox nonetheless!

The company has been active in the X-ray technology sector for over 50 years. From fully automatic units for wet development and image plates right the way up to state-of-the-art CBCT units, almost ten billion images have been taken to date. Alongside compressed air, suction, dental care and hygiene, imaging is one of the company's core product areas.
